Just Do It!

The world has three kinds of people: those who make things happen, those who watch what happen and those who wonder what happened. They can also be known as the Doers, the Watchers and the Dreamers.
The Doers make a plan, take action and as a result tend to achieve the greatest success – simply because they go out and give things a go. The Watchers and Dreamers are just a capable of planning as the Doers, they just don’t always execute. Watchers and Dreamers can still succeed, but would Microsoft exist if Bill Gates just planned to make computers instead of actually making them? Probably not. That’s not to say that doing something will definitely lead to success. It takes time, work, effort. It also comes with setbacks, delays, challenges. But if you do not try, you cannot succeed. Instead, you’ll become a Watcher or Dreamer seeing others achieve what you might have been able to do if only you had acted a little sooner, or at all.
So to achieve success, one has to become a Doer. Doers are proactive, they plan and take action while also taking responsibility for their actions. By making a conscious choice to do so, Doers set themselves up with a ‘can do’ mentality that allows them to propel themselves towards their goals. They’ll also learn from their actions – evaluating mistakes, finding opportunities and persevering until they get what they want.
In the process of achieving proactivity their mindset also shifts towards a more positive framework. External factors no longer hold power over the Doer. Doers are less reactive to setbacks and are also less likely to be crippled by feelings of doubt and/or victimisation (that is, the ‘nothing ever goes my way’ mentality). Instead, Doers focus on resolving issues that arise, advancing further towards their goals, moving forward with determination and a commitment to tackle anything that’s thrown at them.
This perseverance and relentless drive to ‘do’ extends beyond individual tasks but also into a Doer’s daily life. In turn, manifesting as persistent self-improvement and growth. Setting small goals and sticking to them. Taking responsibility for decisions and holding yourself accountable. Always looking to find a way to become better or improve – these are all key characteristics of a Doer.
Being a Doer is more than just being proactive, it’s making proactivity a lifestyle choice. A choice to always be learning and improving. Not letting anything hold you back in any circumstance. And over time, it becomes a habit that stays with you and holds you accountable to yourself. It also will empower you to take charge of life, making it better for yourself and those around you.
Everyone can become a Doer, it can just take a little bit of time to get there. And all you have to do is start.
